Make-up guidelines -early films
The orthochromatic film used in early black and white cinema did a poor job of picking up yellow and red light spectrums. To make up for this deficit, actors had to be coated in highly exaggerated and contradictory colours in order to appear " natural " on film.

I very often say that getting old is something natural, because as we all know, nobody’s immortal. What’s much worse than getting old is health failure.
